What is American Mahjong?
American Mahjong is a fun, social tile game that combines strategy, skill, luck, and connection. While it originated from traditional Mahjong, American Mahjong has its own unique rules, including the use of the National Mah Jongg League card, jokers, and the Charleston (a tile-passing tradition at the beginning of the game). I love teaching American Mahjong because it is so much more than learning a game — it’s about bringing people together, making new friendships, and creating a fun social experience.
Do I need to know how to play Mahjong?
No! Mahj With Stacey welcomes players of al levels. If your brand-new to American Mahjong, we offer beginner-friendly classes to get you confident to join Mahj Club.
What is the difference between Mahjong 101, Mahjong 102 and Monday Mahj Club
Mahjong 101 is where you learn the fundamentals. Mahjong 102 gives you an opportunity to build on those skills with more guided play and practice. Mahj Club is for players who are ready to play, socialize and continue building confidence at the table.
Do you offer private group lessons?
Yes! Private Group lessons are available for small groups, families, celebrations, and private gatherings. Experiences can be customized based on your group's experience level and goals.
Do you offer corporate Mahjong events?
Absolutely! Mahj With Stacey creates customized Mahjong experiences for corporate teams, client events, networking events, employee celebrations, team building and more throughout Chicago.
Can you teach a group where everyone has a different experience level?
Absolutely. That's one of the things I love teaching about Mahjong. We can structure the experience so beginners receive instruction while experienced players still have an engaging and fun experience.
How many people can you accomodate for a Mahjong event?
Mahj With Stacey offers experiences ranging from intimate private gatherings to larger corporate events, with additional instructors available when needed.

All Sales are Final. If you inform us 48 hours before, we can give you a credit for a future class or Mahj Club.
